This is an entry level qualification to help you to prepare for a career in Procurement and Supply or to get an introduction into the field.

This level teaches how to apply factual, procedural and theoretical knowledge of procurement and supply. You will be able to complete tasks and address problems that are well-defined but may be complex and non-routine. You will understand what relevant information is required and how to interpret and review its effectiveness.

Based on the Tactical and Operational levels of CIPS Global Standard

Is this course right for me?

This level is aimed both at those who are looking to built upon existing skills in the field, as well as those who are brand new to it.

This is an entry level qualification and is open to all abilities.

CIPS Course Content

The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) is an internationally recognised procurement and supply chain learning institution, creating qualifications which are respected throughout the industry.

ABA guide students though their learning to develop the skills and knowledge necessary not just to pass the exams but to progress in their careers.

+ L3M1 Procurement and Supply Environments (6 Credits)

Compulsory

  • Know the different sectors of procurement and supply
  • Understand types of pricing arrangements in commercial agreements
  • Know the external environment and its impact on procurement and supply
  • Understand procedures that regulate procurement and supply

+L3M2 Ethical Procurement and Supply (6 Credits)

Compulsory

  • Know techniques that can achieve added value and its contribution to organisational success
  • Know tasks associated with each stage of the sourcing process
  • Understand the significance of ethics for procurement and supply
  • Understand how operational performance of the procurement and supply function can be measured and improved

+ L3M3 Contract Administration (6 Credits)

Compulsory

  • Know the different sectors of procurement and supply
  • Understand types of pricing arrangements in commercial agreements
  • Know the external environment and its impact on procurement and supply
  • Understand procedures that regulate procurement and supply

+ L3M4 Team Dynamics and Change (6 Credits)

Compulsory

  • Know how the individual can support overall organisational success in procurement and supply
  • Understand team dynamics and their influence on procurement and supply
  • Understand the challenges associated with, and methods to achieve organisational change

Elective Modules (1 only)

+ L3M5 Socially Responsible Procurement (6 Credits)

Elective This is the recommended module and is taught in ABA classes

  • Understand the concepts of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
  • Understand the environmental impact of procurement and supply
  • Know the implications of CSR for the procurement and supply function
  • Understand methods to monitor Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in procurement and supply

+ L3M6 Responsible Warehouse and Distribution (6 Credits)

Elective

  • Understand the concepts of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
  • Understand the environmental impact of procurement and supply
  • Understand methods for the storage and movement of inventory
  • Understand the environmental impact of warehousing and distribution

CIPS Exams

CIPS Level 3 is assessed with 1 exam per module. Exams at this level are 2 hour Operational Response (multi-choice) exams, with sittings held throughout the year and across the country.

+ What are my funding options?

To ensure ABA courses are accessible to as many students as possible we offer several funding options: Full, Modular, or apprenitceship levy. Talk to a member of the ABA team to find out which is the best option for you.

+ How do I achieve MCIPS?

To achieve MCIPS (and become a full member of CIPS) you must complete levels 4, 5, and 6.

+ How do I enrol?

Enrolment with ABA is straight forward - simply complete a Student Enrolemt Form and return it to us. Once you've done that you will receive an induction date and access to your online classroom which will guide you through your study.

+ What do I do once I've completed my study?

Once you've completed Level 3 you are qualified to move on to Level 4 Diploma which is a foundation level degree equivalent and available via all of the same learning routes as Level 3.
