CIPS Qualifications Ladder

We offer every level of CIPS qualification from Certificate through to Professional Diploma, meaning that you can complete your entire training journey with ABA Procurement.
It is our priority to ensure that all students begin at a level matches their need and ability, and we're always happy to spend time offering guidance in this.

Certificate and Advanced Certificate

These are entry levels for those without a lot of experience in Procurement and Supply. Usually students studying these levels will be in roles such as: Admin Assistant, Assistant Buyer, or Stock Controller. 

Certificate and Advanced Certificate level exams are two hours long and multiple choice, with five exams per level.

This qualification is designed for those in an operational role who need the capability to carry out procurement and supply tasks. You will develop the knowledge to understand demand management, arrange supply logistics and implement new contracts.

Diploma

This is the highest entry point to your CIPS study and requires a minimum of at least two A-levels (or equivalent) or a minimum of two years' experience in a business environment. Students at this level will usually be in positions such as: Buyer, Contract officer, or Procurement specialist.

Diploma exams are currently three hour essay style written exams. These will be changing to computer based assessments in July 2019.

The Diploma is a valuable management tool for those moving into junior and middle management procurement roles or those supervising the procurement function. It focuses on organisational procedures and processes including negotiation, planning, risk management, and data analysis.

Advanced  Diploma

Advanced Diploma students must have completed the Diploma level. Typical job titles at this level are: Buyer, Contract officer, Procurement Specialist. 

Exams are currently three hour essay style written exams. These will be changing to computer based assessments in July 2019.

Provides senior buyers, contract and supply chain managers with the expertise to improve organisational procurement and to fulfil organisational objectives. It gives you the knowledge base to reduce cost, improve quality and timescales, manage the supply chain and deal with legal issues.

Professional Diploma

Professional Diploma students must have completed the Advanced Diploma before continuing to this level. Job titles at this level may include: Procurement Manager, Supply chain manager, Operations manager.

Exams are currently three hour essay style written exams. These will be changing to computer based assessments in July 2019.

Aimed at senior procurement professionals and heads of department. It is targeted at building strategic direction and advice, in areas such as change management, stakeholder management and team leadership.
